The Carrilet Route is 39.7 km in length along a gentle slope running from Girona to Sant Feliu de Guíxols (15 m). It reaches its highest point in Cassà de la Selva (136 m). Following the tracks of the old Girona-Sant Feliu narrow gauge train, you pass through the counties of Gironès and Baix Empordà and go from the basin of the river Ter to the valley of the river Ridaura, passing through the Selva depression.
What are the Greenways?
The Vies Verdes are old railway tracks that have been converted into cycle and hiking routes. They are accessible and safe spaces, adapted for walking or cycling, which allow you to discover the territory in a sustainable and fun way. Specifically, in the counties of Girona there are more than 150 km of greenways distributed in different routes that link the Pyrenees with the Costa Brava. These greenways are complemented by the Pirinexus route.
The town of Cassà has become a central point in this network of Girona greenways in recent years. Specifically, three greenways, including the Via Verda del Carrilet II, pass through the town or have their starting point here.
